Set of 5 Chippendale Style Ribbon Back Dining Room Chairs (before/after)
Came in with red upholstery as shown, done by previous owner, wrapped around frame, removed red fabric, and sent out seats to be redone with new fabric and padding, re-installed when returned.
Renaissance Revival Side Chair, Circa 1850 (before/after)
Stripped off old striped upholstery, reglued and tightened frame as needed, re-upholstered with customer supplied fabric. Webbing and under skirt, padding replaced, re-used original springs.
Arts and Crafts Era Arm Chair, Circa 1905 (before/after)
The sprung cushion was torn and coming apart, the right rear back upright was cracked above arm at twist.
Dismantled the chair to access the upright. Made up template to hold upright steady and immobile to drill. Drilled center of upright as shown, approximately 30” Deep to insert steel rod past the cracked portion of post and strengthen. Once inserted, re-assembled chair and re-upholstered cushion with new leather.
Victorian Arm Chair with Inlaid Back, Circa 1860 (before/after)
Stripped off old upholstery, reglued and tightened frame as needed, Stripped and refinished frame back to highlight the inlay, re-upholstered with customer supplied fabric. Webbing and under skirt, padding replaced, re-used original springs.
(Note, the empty frame is typical of how I give things to my upholsterer) .

Pair of Grain Painted, Swooping Arm Side Chairs (before/during/after)
Upholstery dry rotted and torn, webbing gone, springs hanging loose. Stripped off old upholstery, re-glued and tightened frame as needed, detailed frame, re-upholstered with customer supplied fabric. Webbing and under skirt, padding replaced, re-used original springs.

Tufted Oak Chaise Lounge, Circa 1890 (before/after)
Stripped off old upholstery, re-glued and tightened frame as needed, Stripped and refinished frame back to original golden oak, re-upholstered with distressed faux leather for aged look. Webbing and under skirt, padding replaced, re-used original springs.
Oak Framed Folding Arm Loveseat (before/after)
Frame was stripped and refinished to natural oak prior to upholstery. All upholstery. Springs, padding, webbing, etc removed to expose empty frame. Frame was tightened/repaired/re-glued as needed. Ratcheting sides mechanisms were cleaned and adjusted to work properly. New webbing and under fabric was added, springs were retied and installed. Padding used was extra dense for greater comfort, and fabric was applied, tufted and installed as shown.

Circa 1940's Arm Chair (before/during/after)
Got a call from a lady who told me that her mother had purchased this chair in 1940’s when just married, and wanted it restored for her mom’s birthday. Dog had used the frame for a chew toy, springs were busting out as shown, as was padding, etc. I told her that I couldn’t do much with the damaged carvings, but would dress them up so not as badly damaged. Stripped off fabric and padding from arms, front of chair, sanded out as much damage as I could. Re-glued loose frame as needed, refinished frame to original dark mahogany color as shown, Sent to upholsterer with her supplied fabric. New webbing, padding and springs were replaced. Finished product shown. The day I delivered it to her mom, she cried. Said it looked just like the day she bought it.

Circa 1910 Oak Morris Chair/Recliner (before/after)
Customer called with this chair, had been his fathers and wanted it restored. No cushions, frame loose and broken in spots, dark and muddy finish. I dismantled frame and backrest, reglued frame, adding missing pieces. Sent to stripper who brought back to golden oak. Once back, I finished to clear, reassembled and sent to upholsterer with customer supplied fabric. New cushions were custom fitted and covered as shown.
Restaurant Chairs (before/after)
Photo shows several side and arm chairs from a notable country club here in North Jersey. They wanted these club chairs to have a new look, all 35 of them. I took 10-12 chairs at a time, sanded the finishes and applied new finish in a dark red mahogany color. Once finished, they went to upholsterer who stripped off old fabric, re-webbed, added new dense foam and re-upholstered as shown.
